The EuropeWave side event was successfully held during the OEE 2023 conference on 25 Oct 2023, showcasing the wave energy projects selected for Phase 3 of EuropeWave’s PCP funding programme.

Mocean Energy has successfully completed the front-end-engineering-design (FEED) of its 250kW Blue Horizon wave energy converter during Phase 2, reaching a technology readiness level (TRL) 5 (1-9 TRL scale).

In the second phase of the EuropeWave PCP programme, IDOM focused on the design of a low-power prototype optimised for installation at the Biscay Marine Energy Platform (BiMEP) in Spain.

During Phase 2, CETO Wave Energy Ireland (CWEI) undertook front-end engineering design (FEED), tank testing, PTO testing, and certification and commercialisation activities.

Throughout Phase 2, Arrecife focused on two lines of work: improving the components of the technology and conducting determinant laboratory tests. The technology advancement involved mooring lines as well as electrical and control systems.

AMOG successfully completed Phase 2 of the EuropeWave Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) Programme, for its Sea-Saw Wave Energy Converter (WEC) technology.

EuropeWave has reserved berths at the open-water test sites of the Biscay Marine Energy Platform (BiMEP) in the Basque Country, Spain, and the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney, Scotland.

Inspired by the behaviour of coral reefs absorbing the energy of the breaking waves, Arrecife Energy Systems’ Trimaran project has recently completed a tank testing campaign.

The AMOG Sea-Saw wave energy device, designed and built at model scale, was tested at the FloWave circular tank facility at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, with the support of the EuropeWave project.

The first EuropeWave Annual Conference was held online on 22 Feb and introduced the 7 wave energy projects selected for the programme. The conference served as a showcase for the Phase 1 projects in EuropeWave’s Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) funding programme, selected following a strong response to the initial call for tenders. Project leaders shared their project concepts and discussed how to accelerate the commercialisation of the wave innovations.
